I am tryimg to design the safety mangement system for the airline i work for in accordance with the OHSAS 18001. I am trying to follow OHSAS 18002. Is there any internet site where a sample manual might be posted? I am really curious to see one!!! IP: Logged |

As far as I know (spitting distance?) BSI are the only people who certify OHSAS18001. This seems an odd choice in Greece. Wouldn't ISRS (DNV) or some other globally recognised system be more appropriate for an airline? I've seen a lot of OHS systems that put OHSAS 18001 to shame. This is hardly a system worthy for airlines, unless your only concern is the baggage handlers! Try talking to high risk OHS experts in the mining, construction, forestry type areas. Then talk to NASA - do you think they would settle for OHSAS 18001? ------------------ IP: Logged |

OHSAS 18001 would be OK for establishing a management system similar to how you would manage the quality of your product/service under ISO 9000 or your environmental management under ISO 14000. You need to remember safety covers a broad spectrum and is subject to all kinds of regulatory constraint and guidance (local, national and international) depending upon which part of your operation you are looking at. If you are just looking at "MANAGEMENT" go with the OHSAS for the lack of anything better. The ISRS (DNV) can be used to enhance you compliance to regulations and legal requirements. Thank you. Please excuse my ignorance.... what is the ISRS? never heard of it...Any system is worthy of an organisation of any Kind when it is asked for by another organisation who otherwise won't let you do your job!!!!! In our case it's an airport... IP: Logged |
