In our QMS we have documents defined this way: Document: Any piece of paper or electronic file containing information. Does this seem reasonable? I look at what The Audit Guy has to say about documents and records (documents = instructions, records = record of following instructions), and we seem to have cross-linked them in our system and applied the requirments of the standard for each to both. We additionally seem to me to have confused the requirements of product with those of documents and records, because we are in a service business, and one way to look at our product is as "documents". Anyone care to share their views/definitions on documents, records, and bits of paper and e-files that represent the product? Puzzling over evidence, Rex IP: Logged |

Al, It's ISO 9001:1994, heading toward 9K2K within a year or so. I did stumble on a thread with some discussion of this subject after posting this... Rex IP: Logged |
