Normally 2 complete cycles, more with justification. Accreditation body rules and probably ISO 17021-?

For some industry controlled schemes such as AS91X0 and IATF 16949, there are rules concerning maximum number of certification cycles the same lead auditor might come back. For ISO 9001, as far as I know, there are no rules preventing the same auditor to keep returning ad eternum.

Although there's cycle to change the lead auditor in IATF 16949 ; the previous lead auditor could be an auditor under the new leader in the next cycle
