There are times when a team is formed to accomplish a corrective or preventive action. The "champion" is generally the team leader, and might be responsible for guiding the effort from opening of the action to its verification and closure. A "participant" is a team member.

CAPA is a multi disciplinary activity and hence you can see a team that usually works on a CAPA. Every team must have a facilitator (someone senior who guides and keeps actions time bound, approves decisions and actions and keeps an eye on the CAPA effectiveness with a drive and motivation to the team.)
As you see, these happen along with the other routine activities of the team members. So you see a CAPA team and a CAPA facilitator

Typically the CAR champion is essentially the team leader, and is tasked with the overall execution of the CA or PA. The paticipant is a team member who contributes toward the solution, but who is not the primary person respoinsible for ensuring the the CAR is fuly closed out.
Neither of these should be confused with the process owner, who is the manager of the operation associated with the nonconformance/ root cause. This is often the person responsible for final approval of the implemented actions.
