New to REACH, RoHAS & Conflict Minerals

Haste Makes Waste
Something that bugs me, as the above post states, is that under REACH (and RoHS) regulations, they are legal requirements and we have to comply. So why do so many customers ask for specific policy statements confirming that we comply? It's similar in my mind to asking us to make a statement saying that we comply with banking/trading legislation etc.... you have to, otherwise you wouldn't be in business. Why the paranoia over special statements; what happens if we refuse and just say "we comply with this because it's legislation that we have to"? (of course it may make the customer and potential customer go elsewhere....)

This is slippery slope. I could tell my customer we don't need PPAPs because we always do the right thing. I wouldn't need Auditors or Inspectors because production always does everything correctly. I would have to find a new career...
