Witness Auditor - Should they be listed on both OASIS and RABQSA auditor listings?

As part of our drive to AS9100 (currently ISO 9001 certified) my company is looking at bringing in an outside auditor to perform a gap analysis so we can focus on the critical areas. I used the OASIS and RABQSA auditor listings to find auditors certified to AS9100. Found several local auditors on both lists. However there were two auditors where one was OASIS and the other was on RAB? Shouldn't they all be on both?

Also one of the auditors is not on either list, but his resume identifies him as an AS9100 Witness Auditor and Instructor. Would his qualifications be equal to or greater than a standard AS 9100 auditor? Who would be more effective for a Gap Analysis? (BTW all are qualified to our IAF category).

Thanks for your informed opinions.

Not necessarily. One can be an Aerospace Experienced Auditor (AEA), but not certified via RABQSA. However, if you are certified as an Aerospace Lead Auditor with RABQSA, your name should be in OASIS, unless your grade is not a lead auditor. Pay attention to the grade.

It might be a case of someone who used to be qualified, but let his/her approval lapse.

Re: Witness Auditor

The “AS9100 Witness Auditor and Instructor” could also be someone who has been certified to teach a course that meets RABQSA or IRCA (didn’t look to see who it is for aerospace) course requirements and has attended an approved lead auditor course.

Ask to see his or her qualifications as an auditor and instructor.
