Effect of your Quality Role on your life

I confess!

I have become a pain for many people, unknowingly i get carried away many times with what seems like preaching, and very strong opinions, almost about everything.

Many people have actually become too intimidated to the extent of wanting to hit me, at certain points after i began dissecting their opinions and bringing forth facts to prove my point.

The fish market sales man was mostly annoyed when i began checking the bags to ensure everything is there before taking my stuff, which lead into a never ending argument i couldn't get out of ..... this has occurred several times lately that i came to realize ... that possibly with the excessive opinions i have to give on my job regarding quality, the "opinion giving" process has begun to take over my personality.

have you been faced with something of the sort .... if so, could you share your thoughts and possibly how to get out of it.

oh! and many times i could see the flaw in the other person's logic but for some reason i couldn't hold in my critique, like for instance i was in a car with friends and one of them went on about how she knows a girl who can steer the car using her knees through a U-Turn, i couldn't help but question the logic in that, and the discussion went on and on and everybody was sickj and tired of it.

Hi mirrorcrax,

Not at all, I admire your posts and think you are "passionate" on quality - continue please :)

Getting overbody on the same page is a challenge, not only in these sort of forums but also in daily life and working life. My suggestion is dont get bogged down by criticism and continue what you feel right for you and for Quality

Cheer up dear :D

I am so there! :applause::lmao::applause: My heart is with you.

More than once have I left the store without everything I had purchased. Once I drove all the way back - I had left the dinner's steak, among other things - and was so vexed about it (gas, plus the hour it took to make the trip and back) they gave me a coupon for a free rotisserie chicken. Since then I noted the cashier pauses while the customer collects his/her bags, versus beginning the next checkout before I have packed away my wallet and collected my things.

Now I look the bags over and say, "Have I remembered everything? I so hate it when I forget stuff." That shifts a sense of blame away but fills the need to make sure I leave with everything.

I have learned to back off on my family - I make an effort not to vacuum or mop over where my son has already done. I also accept he won't ever say to himself, "You know, I think I'll sweep and mop the kitchen."

Dinnertime conversations can become memorable if you can learn to take the current events of the day and put the sardonic QA twist on it. It needn't mean getting critical about something, but commenting on innovation and effectiveness. My initiating a discussion about Panda porn is seared on my daughter's mind, and not in a bad way. She has made her friends jealous by describing our off-the-wall dinnertime conversations. It seems other families don't do that.

So yeah, it is a part of my life, but like crooked teeth I have learned to live with it. :tg:

Quite Involved in Discussions
I used to get very uptight about the general lack of quality service, products and intellect that seemed to dominate all around me. While I can still be known to rants, my own quality of life has improved by coming to know humility and relaxation much more.
I can't point the finger at my Quality carrier as to the stimulus of my unforgiving way, rather something I was built with. The good parts of such, like many of us in quality roles, is the necessary pulse that drives with fervent passion; for many in Quality carrier it is a matter of life and death.

I have made efforts to "lower my expectations" on many things.
I do get frustrated about the blatant, blinkering foolishness, but such is humanities great flaw, and so I don't let it get to me. I rather affect the world around as best I can, and hope God will take care of the rest somehow!

Who you chum around with also plays a role in your personality. Many "quality people" I have met are so cynical, they fail to enjoy life... I don't socialize with the likes of such!

Maybe you need a check list, or is that a shopping list?:lmao:

I, like many people will start with a list of 11 things (I have one in my pocket right now) but I guarantee you I will leave the store with more than that. I have to make a mental scan for left over stuff, that's all.

:topic:

Today I had been to a bank to do multiple things like changing the personal particulars (mailing address, etc), money withdrawal, opening another type of account etc.

So I had written a detailed checklist on the tasks to be performed. The bank representative seeing this was impressed and told me that she would also follow such type of checklists to cover all tasks :)

Our house is dangerous. I am passionate about Quality and my wife is a Project Manager. NOTHING happens in our house without a project plan (as simple as it may be for something), a checklist, and a quality spec.

It is downright scary!!

Dear All:

This is my first thread here on this forum!:applause:

Doing quality on a daily basis at work can involuntarily enter your daily family and friends life, and irrespective of whether you talk positive or negative, they will still feel you are talking work!!

For instance, I am a stickler for cleanliness. Anywhere! So, my wife is always on her toes with things not in place, dust scattered, and the most important the TV remote! While, this is not a trait I got from my quality job, she still thinks its a product of my 'quality' worklife!

However, all said and done about the so-called 'negative' effect of quality on our family and friends, there are definitely ways of improving home life using very simple quality tips! Like making my wife use checklists in the kitchen for stuff to buy, grocery identification, and systematic store management - all of which makes me proud!

So, quality is useless unless put to use!

I hope to be part of this forum in more ways than one!

Ciao.
