Need Torque meter calibration procedure?

Hello Vasant

Have you tried looking at the meter manufacturer manual? May be the manufacturer has already developed the instructions you are looking for.

If not, you could probably develop a fixture to check your instrument using a lever with a given distance and a calibrated weigh. The force-distance applied should be equivalent to the reading you get on your instrument, however I asume it would be much better to use master instruments that are more accurate.

What kind of torque device are you wishing to calibrate? Alberto's post is quite fitting. The type of calibration procedure for torque measurement will depend on what standard you use to calibrate the device with.

There are some electronic torque testers. But IMHO, you can't beat a fixture for the accuracy and price.

Hi Brad,

If you recognized Alf then you are probably about my age or at least of my same generation. I am not sure if that is good or bad but at least we both enjoyed that great TV program with excellent humor.

As for the calibration procedure I will see if I can get something more specific

What kind of torque meter? Do you have a specific brand? What range is the torque meter?

What kind of standard will you be using to calibrate them?
