Tracking response time with individual label I.D.

Looking to track a response time variable (easy) and simultaneously label the response time with an ownership attribute (harder), but I don't want to have to type the label on the chart each time. It should come from a cell associated with the response time.

1. Out of tolerance/non-conformance forms are distributed to M&TE owners
2. Forms require a response within 5 duty days (7 calendar) indicating action taken to evaluate/mitigate any impact on product, with signatures
3. Higher management is notified of non-complying owners with forms still outstanding through a 7-day interval progressive notification process, ending with the "Big Boss" (actually, it ends with the auditor, who shall surely sniff out any process non-compliance, which, ahem, is why I'm now doing this . . . )

The response time monitoring is now one of the corrective actions, and I'm looking to use Excel to plot a time series against the 7-day 'containment' limit and also label/show the form owners' organization ID.

So, when the big boss looks at a quarterly chart of the number of forms issued (X-axis value), the days outstanding variable with owning organization attribute is plotted (2 y-axis values).

note: you want the labels into the chart, or you want the info in a square near the chart, or something else...

Here is example file. Each X-axis point is an individual form--it has a days outstanding variable (Column A) and an ownership attribute (Column B).

I was just thinking that each point can be manually colorized, each color representing the org code, but that requires too much of the viewer. It needs to be in print at the data point. Was just hoping to do this automatically.

Sorry to question, you need to colorize each point and it is what you want?

I don't get the meaning of "needs to be in print at the data point", you mean that you have to select the point and change it one by one?

You didn't answered if you wanted each type with a different color, so I changed to something without any macros that can do the trick.

A different column for each type, if you want in just a column a VBA macro will be needed.

I had thought of colors but also thought the legend with each identifier would be too busy, making the viewer work too hard to correlate the color with code. But you laid it out nicely and even I picked it up right away.
I think you have a working solution.
