Hospital Wall Mounts (for Display Monitors and other devices) - Requirements

We just learned that OSHPD – Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development of California requires wall mounts (for display monitors and other devices) to be certified before installation into a hospital. We were able to locate a wall mount with a certification for the job, but that got us thinking about our other products that have custom mounts.

I have been all over the OSHPD and UL websites looking for requirements for support mounts.

I need to locate the standard to check that our custom brackets meet the requirements and arrange testing if applicable. Are you able to point me in the right direction?

Contact UL directly. They provide access to all their Standards but you need to be a Member of the UL Certification Client group.

Can someone else shed some light on this?

Please keep in mind that standards are copyrighted documents and can not be shared here at The Cove Forums.

Re: Wall Mounts

I am a UL client and reached out to them directly. But my contacts are in the medical device group and I assume that the mounts are not considered medical devices. I would still love opinions from other members who have dealt with similar issues, especially about the OSHPD.

If you've found a certified wall mount, you should know the standard(s) to which it's certified, no? Can't you use that information to locate a copy of the standard? If you do know the standard number, post it and we'll help.

I am also looking for the OSHPD requirements.

I don't know what you mean by "also." What's the other thing? How do you know there's an OSHPD requirement?

I am looking for the applicable UL standard and the OSHPD requirements.

The California customer told us there were requirements.

You still haven't answered my original question. You found a certified wall mount. If you know that it's certified, you should also know (or be able to find out) what standard it's certified to. Correct?
