AQL for Component Level and Assembled Finished Product

veron

Hi,

I would like to ask if it makes sense for the AQL for the molded / purchased components to be set at say 0.65 but set the fully assembled finished goods AQL at 0.1 .

Appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance. :)

I suppose if the component supply is relatively stable and capable such that defect rates at .65 or higher woudl be very rare and any defective components will fall out in the assembly process such that very few of them will reach the final inspection stage it might be more cost effective than having the incoming AQL be much greater than the final AQL.

but other than that rationalization, why would anyone advocate for an acceptable defect rate at incoming that is so much higher than the acceptable defect rate at outgoing?
