Hey Guys, are there any standards used while designing an Automatic Fare Collection System for Metro (Rail) or BRTS (bus Rapid Transit Systems) ?

Alternatively are there any useful resources where I can gain further knowledge about these systems ?

It's fairly recent and the lack of design standards seems to be as much of a problem for AFC systems as it is for highway toll collection devices.

The market may still favor the suppliers of proprietary systems instead of customers.
