AS9100 Auditor Says to Change Our Scope???

Interestingly enough, I just looked at last year's audit report and found that he also gave us a strongly worded suggestion to shorten our AS9100 certificate scope statement to something like “The contract manufacturing and test of circuit board assemblies and product integration”.
OK, and?

That's a good thing. The process is what's important, not things like the differences between epoxy or water-borne paints.
Really? Got much aviation experience down in the dirt and weeds? Epoxy and water borne paints are part of the process and important inputs to help achieve a desired output.

Exactly! He's done it two years in a row now! lol. We'll just keep not doing anything about it and he'll keep strongly trying to get us to conform to what he thinks we should do.
Well unless you're doing something totally different than your scope says let him puff. What extra language do you have he has heartburn about?

"...contract manufacturing of circuit board assembly and test, and product integration of electronic components for the aerospace, defense and commercial industries."

If that's what you do, that's what you do.

I'd comment about maybe placing the word "or" after all the "and's". Keeps everything cool and allows some flexibility. I've a ton of clients that do that.

Oh my - it almost sounds official, doesn't it? ;)

The intent of my statement is that he doesn't need to know technical details of the paints. If the process says to use one over the other, that's what's verified.

Gotcha, kinda.

Of course I don't do AS because I could prove my parents were married at least 9 months before my birth (Why I never got offered a commission or became a military pilot as well)
