Generic Term for Inspection Types

F

Frank T.

I can explain, what I need it for. I am working in software design and there is a dialog, where the user has to choose from "Incoming inspection, Final inspection, In Production Inspection, ...." The dialog should say: Please choose one inspection .... (type, area or other?)"

In my opinion...

All the choices listed are a type of inspection and do not refer to a designated/specific area.

Hope this helps...

Yes, I mean how to group and/or combine all the forementioned types of inspections. Just "inspection" is too short for my application.

I think what you want it to say / ask Please choose inspection type.

The generic term that ISO uses is "Monitoring and Measurement of Product"

Or more succinctly "Product audit".

Instead of "inspection type" (if Kira_n is still looking for alternatives), one could use inspection "focus" or "stage" or "phase".

I seem to remember

QC = Activities performed after Start of mass/serial production

i.e. Inspection.

QA = Activities performed before Start of mass/serial production

i.i Quality Planning, preparation of specs etc
