I'm going to jump in here late; only because this is something I go through at just about every audit. First and foremost we have a company to run; most of the time key people are out traveling and yes sometimes people are on vacation.
We discuss this at the opening meeting with the auditor. During one meeting when told that certain people wouldn't be here for the audit; the auditor said "Thats Ok. This will be a good test for your document control system".
And I guess He's right. Anyone, even a quality manager,
, should be able to locate any document pertaining to the quality system.
And most auditors will open to revising their schedule. He may substitute another element and catc up the next time.
Life is too short to get your knickers in a twist ove something that can be easily worked out.
