Minitab: Type 1 Gage Study vs. Gage R&R Study

I am using Minitab to qualify a measuring tool - I want to know how accurate my measuring tool is.
Should I use Type 1 Gage Study or Gage R&R Study? What are the differences between them? And what parameter should I be looking out for?

You must be very precise in your choice of words. Qualify is very general. It could mean performing every possible test in the MSA toolkit.

You mention the word accurate. This would in its literal meaning lead you to perform a Bias and Linearity study. Accuracy refers to the LOCATION of the average measurement.

A Type 1 study and an R&R study address the question of precision, not accuracy. Precision refers to the SPREAD of the measurements. The Type 1 study focuses on Repeatability while R&R covers both Repeatability and Reproducibility.

What, exactly, do you want to study?

I was, Thanks! I didn't know (and still don't) how to point to an individual post.
