Separate Certification - Can I combine documents for ISO14001, OHSAS18001 & AS4801?

Hi,

I am new to this forum but i found it to be very useful.

My company is going for three different certification - ISO 14001, AS 4801 and OHSAS 18001 (not integrated management system) by the same certification company. Also, we are an ISO 9001:2008 certified company.

My question is - can i combine some of the documents into 1 document for all these standards?

Example 1:
OHSAS 18001:2007 Clause 4.2 - OHS Policy
ISO 14001:2004 Clause 4.2 - Environmental Policy
For our company - we developed a combine policy for OHSE, which means we have a policy which address both OHS and E requirememtns. Is this acceptable?

Example 2:
OHSAS 18001:2007 Clasue 4.4.5 - Control of documents
ISO 14001:2004 Clause 4.4.5 - Control of documents
ISO 9001:2008 Clause 4.2.3 - Control of documents
AS 4801:2001 Clause 4.4.5 - Document and data control
We combine all these requirements into 1 procedure one.

Please advice whether this is acceptable since we are going for separate certification. Or do we need to seperate the document?

Thank you.

Combine them or keep them seperate, your choice.

Here's the deal, let's look at document control...What purpose would it serve to have 3 documents that basically do the same thing? Where is the efficiency in this?

or Management review?

or corrective action?

or Records control?

so on and so forth....

You can have common documents and still have seperate systems, it's nobody's business but yours.

And can you combine them....I don't see why not, probably 10's of thousands of organizations already have.

Thank you Randy. I just want to re-assure what we had been doing is correct. :)

of course, you can do

but you need ensure that the requirements from different system standard are contained in this documents; for example: policy, objectives and factors and so on
