Who Should be using AS9006

Hello,

We are also engineering services company offering services to aerospace companies.But we do not hold any pattern for design. So we exclude 7.3. But we do design activities based on customer requirements and specifications using software’s like CATIA, Nastran etc.

"The Supplement AS9006 explains Quality System requirements for suppliers of products that contain deliverable embedded or loadable airborne,spaceborne or ground support software components that are part of an aircraft type design,wepon system .....that is used in the development and maintenance of deliverable software"

so company like us using COTS for development work, should also follow all the clauses of AS9006 ??Or only certain clause from AS9006 ?

I am not aware of a requirement to comply with any portion of AS9006 unless it is customer imposed. Specifics should be noted in the PO or statement of work you received from your customer. However, there may be unstated regulatory agency imposed requirements depending on what types of products you are developing and for what markets. Our software development must be done in accordance with RTCA DO-178B since our products are speculative in nature and we seek TSO approval.
