I need help! We were just hit on control plans under Characteristics product/process, not having the correct information in these areas. Does anyone have examples of the correct way to do this?
Thanks

Hi, Desiree, welcome to the Cove. :D

By "hit on" do you mean that a third-party auditor was swinging the blunt object? If so, it's always helpful if you give us the exact wording of the finding, including reference to the requirements that the auditor identified as being violated.

In general though, "part" characteristics are things you measure or verify by inspecting the part, such as dimensions and cosmetic requirements. On the other hand, "process" characteristics are features of the process (machine settings, e.g.) that must be controlled in order to achieve the part characteristic requirements. For every part characteristic there should be at least one process characteristic. The intent is to show evidence of process control, and to avoid having the control plan becoming just an inspection plan.
