Integrated Phased Processes - AS9100D cl. 8.1 Operational Planning - Clarification

Hello, Cover friends,
AS9100D, cl. 8.1 Operational Planning and Control notes the "integrated phased processes" as one method to achieve operational planning and control .
Can anybody clarify this expression?

I know the "Integrated Design", "Integrated Business Planning" and so on. But I've never seen the word combination as "integrated phased processes".
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Regards, Vladimir

I believe that "integrated phased processes" relate to the aero-derivative of the APQP methodology and refers to the following product life cycle phases:

1. Planning
2. Product design and development
3. Process design and development
4. Product and process validation
5. Production

For additional information, one can go to the IAQG Supply Chain Management Handbook website and peruse the material available in Section 7.2 - APQP.

Attached an introductory document available in the SCMH.

Though AS&D primes would like you to use APQP from our friends at the automotive sector we need to remember that APQP requirement was intended for Tier 1 suppliers in the automotive world. It was not intended that every supplier within the supply chain to perform APQP due to the resources required.

As one can tell by looking at the IAQG document matrix, AS9145 is being developed, as we speak.

It's contractual flowdown might become a reality in the future for some AS&D suppliers. Irrespective of the flowdown or not of AS9145, the OP had a question about the term integrated phased processes and I attempted to clarify it with IAQG supported material.

Well actually because IAQG did not define the meaning of integrated phased processes in AS9100D, Section 3 and no such definition is found within the normative document ISO 9000:2015, then any definition created by the organization would be acceptable.

The fact that the term only appears in a note also indicates that you're not required to do it anyway.

Thanks for everybody! All opinion will be taken into consideration.
I like the common methodological approach proposed by BoardGuy:
"because IAQG did not define the meaning of integrated phased processes in AS9100D, Section 3 and no such definition is found within the normative document ISO 9000:2015, then any definition created by the organization would be acceptable".

:applause:My question is answered. Thanks. I was clueless the other day. I was holding a training programme on the new standards and hoping against hope that no one would ask me that:)

Agreed. We use some really small "Mom & Pop" suppliers, that would absolutely choke if they had to do APQP!
