Interpretation of 8.2.4 Monitoring and Measurement of Product

Can anyone explain what this means "The organization shall ensure that all documents required to accompany the product are present at delivery."?

I am assuming that this is shipping documentation (packing lists, import/export, DD-250 etc), but I am not sure. Our company retains all documentation (i.e. user's manuals, software etc.) that comes in with a supplied product and is stored until the item becomes part of the final assembly and then gets shipped either at final or is a seperate line item of the contract.

The term "required" would indicate to me that this would be any contractually required documentation (as required) by the contract or by purchase order.

I may be reading way too much into this. I know this was part of 7.5.5 in AS9100 Rev B. I am still a little green on the interpretation of some of the clauses, and have not seen any article that talks about this particular phrase.

Yes, I think your interpretation is correct. You might also include a C of C if that is a requirement of your customer or your QMS. You could also include a form 8130-3 if the product is eligible and you are exporting it or your customer requires it or it is a return to service situation or...........

You should sent the documentation agreed between you and your customer. the standard doesn't "force" you to send documents that won't be used by your customer. True, you should have traceability and identification, but not beyond your agreement you made with your customer from your POs.

Is it safe to say that in order to show compliance to this, I would need a method to verify I have all the documents required? A checklist perhaps? Or an internal production order that pulls the requirements from the purchase order / contract? Is it just a matter of double checking the purchase order for requirements? Or is there another method?

Your question that you have should be resolved with a robust configuration process - AS9100 7.1.3 Configuration Management and / or ISO 10007.
