Integrating other standards into ISO9001 QMS

Hi

I've returned to the world of ISO9001 after a gap of a couple of years - I'm now setting up a QMS for a transport company that has a design department. There are various international and local standards that must be conformed to but the control of these is poor.

I use ISO9001 as the spine to hang other standards off - but can't remember the wording that I should use in the quality manual.

Could someone please provide some examples?

Thanks

Brian

Why don't you define how you run the business, publish your process descriptions etc electronically, and make sure that all relevant standards are referred to at the appropriate place(s) in your process descriptions. Then your entire published system includes what your "QM" has to cover.

Hi,
I made a reserach in the "post attachnments list" in the green bar of this forum with the key word" quality manual:

here is the link with some material that can help.

In any case you shall ensure the compliance to ISO 9001 standard, you can start from a gap analysis vs those requirement, with the help of a consultant with the top mgmt sponsorship.:bigwave:

Brian,

Welcome back to the world of leading the development of process-based risk management systems.

Name your management system for your organization not for the standard(s).

Analyze the new standards and other requirements to determine the processes missing from your organization as a system or controls missing from your management system's processes.

Make a table showing the new processes and controls. Explain the benefit of each new process or control.

Assign ownership of the new processes to employees or team members who are subject matter experts for the new processes. Work with the process owners to bring their new processes into being. Document the procedures for these new processes so they are documented to the extent necessary for effective planning, operation and control. Support the process owners in training (and testing for competence) of their process teams in the requirements of the new procedures.

Work with existing process owners and their process teams to introduce the new controls for existing processes in consultation with the process teams members affected. Update the procedures to include these new controls so they are documented to the extent necessary for effective planning, operation and control.

The new controls and new processes may need an investment in resources so be careful to explain their benefits to the business before you start.

Good luck,

John

Thanks for all replies. Now I've thought about it, and following your suggestions, I'm going refer to the standards as forming part of the controls on the processes within design realisation.

I'll have a table in in the Q manual that lists the processes and associated standards and other controls.

When an answer is needed in a hurry, this is a great resource to tap into :)
