Question about environmental control - Pest control management procedure

Hi everyone,

As part of environmental control, does anyone have a pest control management procedure? In addition, what are some pest control chemical substances used in device manufacturing facilities?

Thank you.

Hi Snoopy,
Not sure where you are located but in the UK make sure you select a pest control service which is BPCA (British Pest Control Association) registered. Some must haves for pest control:-
Regular visits (8 technician visits plus 2 or 4 QA visits per annum are normal)
Detailed specification covering all pests
Follow up procedure (ie re-visits by contractor following a problem, they should re-visit three times or until problem is clear)
Site plan showing location of bait boxes, insect detectors and electric fly killers (EFKs)
EFK tube change in spring (breeding season)
Safety data sheets for all chemicals used in pest control book
Policy on toxic / non-toxic baits (toxic being phased out in UK)
CVs of technicians (some form of professional training or accreditation important)
Proofing advice offered (although it is normally cheaper to do the actual proofing yourself than get them to do it)

In my experience small local firms can be better than national ones; a good technician who understands your business is crucial.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure that this is in the correct forum or thread, but I have a question about pest control and Class 1000 Cleanrooms. Can a company (our supplier) do their own pest control (they call it Detection of Foreign Objects) if they have Class 1000 Cleanrooms? This company is registered to ISO 9001:2015 by a well-known registrar and has customers in various industries (my employer is in the medical device industry).

Nothing to stop a company doing their own pest control, but will they have the appropriate qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience? Best left to the experts IMO. Also, detection of foreign objects doesn't sound much like pest control to me. If you've reached the 'detection' phase then your pest control, which is largely a preventive measure, has failed. HTH.

I agree with Philip, they must be licensed and hold certifications for each employee.
