Dear Experts,
I request clarification regarding the application of Clause 5.4 (Design and Development) of API Specification Q2, 2nd Edition, in the context of offshore cementing services.
In offshore cementing operations performed under a single contract, multiple wells may be serviced on a single rig. Each well may include multiple cementing sections (e.g., different casing sizes), and a Cement Job Program is prepared for each section based on well-specific and operational requirements.
In this scenario, I am seeking clarification on how the Design and Development requirements of Clause 5.4 are intended to be fulfilled.
Specifically:
I am seeking guidance to ensure that our design control process aligns with the intent and requirements of API Specification Q2, 2nd Edition.
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Deepak Kumar

In this scenario, I am seeking clarification on how the Design and Development requirements of Clause 5.4 are intended to be fulfilled.
Specifically:
- Is it necessary to establish a separate Design Package for each individual well or casing section?
- Alternatively, may a single Design Package be established at the rig or contract level, with well/section-specific Cement Job Programs treated as design outputs within that framework?
- Under what conditions would API Q2 require issuance of a new or separate Design Package for cementing operations?
I am seeking guidance to ensure that our design control process aligns with the intent and requirements of API Specification Q2, 2nd Edition.
Thank you in advance.
