In the UK, we've had a "tyre disposal charge" added whenever we buy a new tyre, for many years now. AT first I found it infuriating because tyres have always had to be disposed of whenever you buy replacements and there never used to be an extra charge, it was always built-in to the price you paid for new tyres, but then many of us put it down to "rip-off Britain", a phrase coined a while back to "explain" extra charges made on many goods and services, or seemingly unjustified high pricing (because we have so much of it).
