My manufacturing organization is currently interested in a 3rd party software vendor that can produce and link PFMEAs and Control Plans and I am interested to see if anybody has any recommendations on software that they use or have used in the past?

Currently we utilize standard excel templates and a bit of a homegrown control plan application that is more like a database. We are ISO 9001 certified.

Something to be aware of as you consider options: Many 3rd party software vendors are targeting automotive companies which have started requiring non-Excel FMEA software that complies with the latest AIAG/VDA methodology. Since you did not mention IATF, only ISO, you are under no obligation to use that methodology, which is much more detailed than the original FMEA methodology. Specifically, you may have a more difficult time finding software that supports the older methodology.

One additional thought. We did use a 3rd party FMEA software at a prior company. While it worked very well and did tie the control plan together, it required someone trained to use it to maintain it. This means that you will have a limited number of trained people to support your entire needs. This may not be a problem for a small company with a limited number of processes, but can become unsustainable for larger companies with many different processes. I've seen a demo of the newer AIAG/VDA compliant software and it was even more complex.
