This contract is far more detailed than others, but I develop detailed project plans for every project anyway. This one just includes the detailed plan in the contract. I think they were just being very cautious in their due diligence in selecting a consultant. They contracted with another consultant who canceled the contract, because she was dealing with a relatively sudden back-log. It seems to me that the company may have felt "burned" a little, because she had the contract for a few months before she canceled it, and never delivered anything. She didn't bill them of course, but now the project time line is considerably shorter, and nothing's been done.

Sorry to hear that - that's neither professional nor even fair to the company. I'd feel burned if I were them too. Forget billing - it shortened their timeline which makes things harder for them. Sigh. I do wish consultants wouldn't do things like that - it makes things a bit harder for those of us who wouldn't and don't.
