I use spybot search and destroy, IMO it's way better than Adaware.
I also use a neat little free program called JV16 tools. This neat utility is powerfull and very easy to use to control registry entries that you would never know are there. Another usefull program I use for cleaning out my system every other day is called windows washer.
Regarding Zone alarm, well I had nothing but trouble when using it with XP home, I removed it and, I now manage my PC through the previously mentioned utilities.
