We have had several mock disasters and they require us to actually pretend to do the adjustments. Here are some of them:

Server Room is flooded overnight

1) Call IT support; obtain new hardware spin up quote (how long will this take?) (Obtain ACTUAL quote from IT group)
2) Copy the old backup to the new hardware
3) How do move back to the old area? Do we move back to the old area? etc.
4) recovery to operation? How long will production stop? Do we have enough cash for urgent purchasing or credit?

Global Pandemic

1) staff all works from home
2) can the VPN support that?
3) What cant be done from home?
4) How are we shipping and receiving?
5) Infected employee policy? What if half the company is sick in the hospital? Do we monitor for temperature hourly at work?

Fire in production

1) Initial containment and safety (triage)
2) Operational key functions move. Where to? How? Do we need new equipment? If we move some can we obtain moving trucks? How many do we need? Where would we get them? What equipment needs professional moving?
3) Inventory assesment
3.5) contract manufacturing spin-up cost and timing?
4) Customer notification
5) Board of Director / Investor Notification

All senior management has a controlled binder at home with critical info like employee contact details, Contact info at major customers and suppliers, OHSA building evacuation plan,

Also look at both sole source and single source suppliers. What happens if they are affected by strikes, fires, floods, earthquakes, insolvency, etc.

too often off-shoring to save a few bucks ends up costing a crap ton of money

There's a ton to consider for sure.........And it still doesn't matter what you call it or what color its painted.

Asking some perspectives about the differences between Business Continuity Plan and Contingency Plan in Automotive Manufacture Industry. Are they different? is there any samples of BCP and Contingency Plan?
Contingency plans should assure business continuity in supply chain. For instance, if there is a problem in raw material due to some contingency from importing country, you should assure a second source already qualified.
Another example could a key equipment in your production flow, that could cause stop production if out of order,
This is an example that should come out from an internal risk assessment.
Consider to check also sanctioned interpretation of IATF, currently there is also cybersecurity to take into account.
In addition, where applicable, you should also test your contingency plans.
