Good day @Quality Manager 15 ;Hello,
I am seeking assistance. Our organization is undergoing an IATF audit this week, and we currently do not have documented competencies for Internal Auditors. Could you please advise me on where to begin in addressing this issue? I would greatly appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thank you
Please help us understand.
1- Is your organization already certified to IATF ? I
a) If so, how has your organization performed internal audits/maintained certification in the past?
2- If not already certified , is this your stage 1 audit you are preparing for?
a) if so, and you have not identified competent internal auditors, then....you're in for a difficult time.
b) if so, and you have not already performed internal audits with competent auditors, then....you're in for a difficult time.
To have competent auditors, your organization can take a number of routes.
- Training (which is NOT required by IATF [save any relevant CSR] and does NOT guarantee competency), but PROPER training is highly beneficial.
(and is ideally followed up with sufficient and proper mentoring).
- Experience. Possibly you have someone on your team that has good experience and is competent based on their past experience and
performance.
- Outsource. Your organization can outsource internal auditing, assuming you procure a COMPETENT party to audit.
Attempting to perform proper internal audits ...report them up through management review...assign response/actions as result, all within one week is nearly (completely?) impossible. Audits are best performed throughout /over time....required to be prioritized based on past performance, changes, importance, etc.... SO much to unpack here based on the statement "....IATF audit THIS WEEK.
Hope this helps.
Be well.
Certified auditor? Lead auditor?
This is still relevant (more than ever?!) so I decided to repost it..
