Due to global shortage of electronic components, there are some resistors that are being replaced temporarily (at different times but will be for a week or two edpend on availaibility of original component) and going with a different manufacturer but with same specifications and material composition. Our customer authorized this substitution without need for any validation as these are considered as class 2 components, but from Supplier Quality , it was requested for a new IMDS submission to all assembly PN's that will use this new resistors. We buy the PCB from a supplier and we add that to our end product.
The problem over here is that how can we manage these electronic component shortage that occurs every now and then and that requires IMDS submission for a PPAP'd part every other week as we will need tier 2 supplier submit IMDS for this resistor for one week and then we submit to customer and then after a week this gets removed .
Do we need to submit IMDS for these kind of situation as per AIAG standards?
