OEM specific requirements - PPAP was rejected by STA

Hello,

The PPAP was rejected by STA due to documentations not being aligned with customer requirements.

Customer requirements : SCSS, DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Flow and Control, need to be specific to the part and a generic version will not be acceptable, therefore will impact the progression of PSW.

Supplier relevant docs are aligned with AIAG, and our processes are generic not specific, seeing that we are working with numerous customers. and we can not adapt all the documentations to be aligned with one customer requirements.

Here is below a mention in the Customer FMEA Handbook, "Suppliers are encouraged to use" Not "Shall use" !

--> " This FMEA Handbook is available through Supplier portal. Suppliers are encouraged to use it as a reference when they create FMEAs for systems, sub-systems, and components to be used for the customer."

Could anyone please guide us on how we can proceed with this situation ?

Thank you very much in advance :)

Have you submitted PPAP to this customer before? If not, did you start by ascertaining the customer's requirements? I would start by asking the STA where the cited requirements came from. The fact that you have many customers isn't necessarily license to provide generic documents.

especially if this is for a automotive OEM...there are always CSR, and especally for PPAP/PSW, specificity matters...is essential

Yes sure Jim, we worked this way a long time with this customer, but not the same STA!

The FMEA Handbook contains specific information for the creation of FMEAs. It includes information on:
- Concept FMEA
- Designations for the Classification column
- Reduced emphasis on RPN; Increased emphasis on Severity; Severity x Occurrence (Criticality) & Quality and Timing of Detection events.
- The inclusion of Robustness Tools in the FMEA process

If you haven't asked the STA to look at previously-approved PPAPs, you should do so. There's an excellent chance that it won't do you any good, however.
