Predictive Maintenance Data Collection

What specific data do I use to figure out predictive maintenance? The company I work for mainly supplies steel coils to automotive production facilities. The only true production we do is robotic welding and very little of that. Does anyone have a checklist or a data sheet I could use or any suggestions. I am in the middle of trying to get TS certified and this has me stumped.:(

What equipment do you have? (I'm guessing coilers...we buy steel coils and make automotive parts). Does any of the equipment have manuals that state what maintenance needs to be done, and the frequency? Are there people who check certain parts of the equipment each shift, day, week, month? What are they looking at?

Who is responsible for the building and facilities? What is done to maintain all that and reduce repair costs...lilke roof leaks, wiring, plumbing, HVAC, etc. These could be part of hte PM program as well. Hope this helps!

The first port of call will be your equipment O+M manuals.

You could use an FMECA process for determining planned preventative maintenance.

You can also apply experience from past break-down and repairs.

ISO TS 16949 requires to perform studies and analysis for predictive maintenance.
In the predictive maintenance you should usually study analysis of vibration of a motors, viscosity of oil, thermography etc. Based upon the data collection and analysis, you can search room for maintenance improvement ( effectiveness and efficiency parameter), trying to "predict" when a failure occurs . Based upon these studies you can think to enlarge the time frame of a maintenance, trying to be more efficient. :bigwave:

do we need to continuous study/analysis? or just 1 time analysis then we get result and put it into maintenace plan/preventive maintenance plan??

Hi xpcids,
Clause 7.5.1.4 of ISO TS says that the organization shall utilize methods of predictive maintenace to pursue continuos improvement of the effectiveness and the efficiency of the production equipment.
For example, if you have a static situation of your production equipment as well facilities equipment ones, it is ok a one shot analysis and include it in your maintenance plan.
If there are new situation ( change of the production, for example) or new equipment introduction, you shall consider the analysis of predictive maintenance as a dynamic process.
The suggestion could be the one to formalize the maintenance process with process mapping or a general procedure ( even if this document is not mandatory for ISO TS) to have a clear picture of how to proceed in the entire organization. Consider to have a multidisciplinary approach to do so and set KPI for this key process. Hope this helps
see you:bigwave:

Clearly process FMEA could be useful too in thsi process. The organization could also implement some predictive maintenances and put them in control plan to contribute to increase detection and avoid a potential risk for the production:bigwave:

Predictive Maintenance Requirement

Could I ask to somebody who can share with me any predictive maintenance program or activity & procedure sample ?

Our company had passed 1st certification audit of ISO/TS 16949 but we had minor NC for Predictive Maintenance requirement because as per 3rd party Auditor ,we're focused on preventive maintenance.

Our Machine & Equipment type are Press Machine,Generator,Heater and Plastic Molding Injection Machine.

Please help me on this..
