There are difficulties with comparing from company/industry to another. These difficulties are primarily - although not exclusively - driven by the complexity of the product and how much of the hidden factory is included in the calculations.
However, I think there is value in sharing our respective RTY numbers and how we manage that process.
My organization has a very diverse portfolio of in vitro diagnostic products that range from single use immonassay test devices to complex electro-mechanical instruments that perform hemotology and chemistry testing.
Our instrument lines have achieved a stable RTY of 60-70%. The only failures we do not currently capture in this calculation is defects that are detected and corrected at the station wehre the defect is created.
