Can anyone advise on what are the common reasons of out of tolerance condition for DC Calibrator or any reference standard? We have been using this instrument for almost 3 years, unit is being sent to manufacture for calibration once every year and we did not encounter such condition. there is also no known incident that the reference standard dropped or underwent adjustment..

thank you..

The incident doesn't need to be known for the device show a problem. The most commom reasons are a drop, exposure to a surge or other over-power condition (for an electrical standard), a failing part (bad cap), uncontrolled temperature or altitude variations, or verification by incompetent technicians. The last one is no joke; I've had a reference standard reported as being OOT, only to later find out it was because the cal tech was new and hadn't worked on that type of standard before.:nope:
