Question about the word "Design" in AS9100 Clause 8.3

Hey Everyone,

Quick question regarding this portion of 8.3: "Unless otherwise restricted in the contract, company-designed product which is controlled via a customer specification may be dispositioned".

If we claim exclusion to Design and Development, does this portion about the company-designed product need to be removed or is this just relating to a standard process of creating a part based on specifications sent by customer?

If you are not product design-responsible, you can not disposition non-conforming product as repair nor "use as is", without your customer written consent.

That cited paragraph of the standard would not apply to you.
