Anyone know whether a half hour working lunch can be counted as audit time in a 3rd party audit? Is this something that is registrar dependent or is there an accreditation body requirement?
Sure. Every registrar I've worked for has counted the time during "working " lunch.
Almost without fail we all do lunch together and keep talking or whatever and then have a short team meeting at the end prior to hitting the floor again.
Lunch many times serves as an opportunity for all the "key" players to get together to discuss how things are going.
We usually have lunch brought in and discuss if potential findings are valid, and get perspective of what is going on with some managers in attendance. Ask about afternoon schedule and availability of auditees, etc.
This is not an entertaining time, but working time, and it counts as audit time.
I am aware of an auditor that allowed the company to take him out to a pretty nice restaurant for 1.5 hour lunch. The company didn't care because it was less time auditing. I don't think it was very ethical on the part of the auditor though.
