I grew up there as a kid from 61-65 (6th to 9th grade) and mine has gotten a bit rusty. (Okinawa actually)

I was mainly in Kurashiki, near Okayama, but was able to visit from Hiroshima to Tokyo. I was in Kobe the week before the big earthquake. I really enjoyed my time there and loved most of the food. I had to draw the line at odori. Sashimi is one thing, but at least it is not still moving.

Yeah, I'll go along with that. I've eaten stuff still moving, but I was wearing ill fitting green clothes and carrying a rifle when I did.

I grew up in Japan also, from age 2 to 24. Mostly central to northern Japan (I call it north but they call it east).
